Of healthy disposition, weight never increased no matter how much I ate. As a consequence I never worried about my weight. A general checkup revealed high thyroid and cholesterol levels, along with low calcium levels. I realized then that weight wasn’t the only thing I wasn’t concerned about. High levels indicated that I wasn’t really fit. One friend recommended Dr Gitanjali Jaswal, who specialized in Diets and Ayurveda. After a consultation session, she planned a diet according to my body constitution. Started following diet, eating simple meals, increasing fiber and decreasing carbohydrates intake. Within 6 weeks, I underwent a transformation. I lost 6 kilos, and managed to get my cholesterol and thyroid levels back to normal. I felt changed not only physically but mentally, waking up each morning refreshed and energetic. At first I doubted whether I could cope with the diet but I saw that it obtained amazing results which I could not have fathomed. I was highly motivated by my family members who suppressed my urges and forced me to stick to my diet. For the most part, my two children were always on my case and stopped me whenever I had the urge to eat the occasional samosa or pakoda.
This diet really helped me and gave me confidence. I finally knew that if I moderated my needs and maintained a diet, I could lose weight and feel fit mentally, physically and spiritually. In addition, this diet also helped my children, who are now eating fiber, low-carb food and salads along with me, to remind me of their indomitable support.
